The Code 4+4 Group has read with deep concern a brusque, unimaginably telling, and supercilious statement credited to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization, Comrade Dan Obo. His recent attempt at stirring the hornet’s nest in the politics of Central Senatorial District, by throwing political salvos in the direction of Distinguished Senator Eteng Jonah Williams, is not only ill-advised but grossly disrespectful.
While it is Dan Obo’s right to support any candidate of his choosing, one would have expected a man from a political glass house to know better than to throw stones. For someone known for a predictably shallow, transactional, and self-centered approach to politics, it is hardly surprising that Dan has now fully plunged himself into a hatchet job aimed at de-marketing Senator Eteng. However, the good people of Central Senatorial District are not fooled. They understand his antics of “money for hand, back for ground” all too well.
We in the Code 4+4 Group, who are steadfast in our support for Senator Eteng Williams’ re-election come 2027, reject the politics of betrayal and blackmail. Dan Obo’s call for the Senator’s replacement reeks of personal bitterness and a lack of vision. It is even more tragic that he comes from Obubra, the only Local Government Area in Central Senatorial District that has never produced a Senator. One would expect him to champion his LGA’s cause rather than attempt to derail the ambitions of a performing legislator from another part of the district.
Rather than show leadership, Dan has chosen to champion the ambition of a much younger individual from the same Local Government Area as the incumbent Senator, raising questions about his true motive and loyalty — loyalty not to party, state, or region, but to his stomach.
Dan Obo’s laughable critique of the Senator’s performance, citing “lack of good hospitals and youth centers,” only reveals his ignorance of the duties of a National Assembly member. If Dan Obo had a basic understanding of how legislation, budgeting, and federal project allocation work, he would direct such demands to the appropriate authorities. What has he achieved in his capacity as Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization?
Apart from causing disaffection in the Youth Council, fabricating allegations against his predecessor Mr. Olayi Emmanuel, and engaging in power tussles with the Commissioner for Youths, what tangible results has his office delivered for the youth of Cross River State? How many youth empowerment programs has he facilitated? What infrastructural investments has he attracted?
We challenge Dan Obo to present his scorecard, if any, since his appointment instead of hiding behind political mischief and media noise. His role should be to complement Senator Eteng’s efforts, not sabotage them.
It is unreasonable to expect a Senator who has spent barely two years in office to fix all systemic developmental gaps that his predecessors could not address in 24 combined years. Senator Eteng Williams, with his record of legislative responsiveness, constituency engagement, and federal-level influence, remains the best candidate for continuity in 2027.
We, the Code 4+4 Group, stand united behind Senator Eteng Jonah Williams. We will not allow opportunists to distort facts or derail progress for selfish gain. Let it be known: Cross River Central is watching, and history will remember those who built and those who tried to destroy.
