Ita-Giwa Expresses Shock and Pain Over the Passing of Segun Awolowo

Senator Princess Florence Ita-Giwa has expressed shock and deep sadness over the passing of Segun Awolowo, whom she fondly described as her abúrò, recalling that she watched him grow into a warm, charismatic, and engaging man whose presence lit up every room. She said Segun was full of life, eloquent, effortlessly charming, and a man of depth, intellect, and distinguished character.

Ita-Giwa noted that beyond his remarkable personality, Segun was also a naturally gifted and prolific writer, admired for his clarity of thought and rare brilliance. She added that he showed genuine interest in the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria and carried the Awolowo legacy with confidence and dignity.

Extending condolences to his mother, Sisi Abah Fowilayo, and his wife, Bola, whom she calls her own daughter, she urged them to stay strong, trusting that God will continue to comfort them, and reminding her that Segun has not left her without blessings, he leaves behind three beautiful children and two great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy.

Ita-Giwa described his death as a profound loss to the nation, not just to his immediate family. She prayed for his gentle soul to rest in perfect peace.
