A major milestone in community development was achieved in Bekwarra as philanthropist and community leader, Stephen Endurance, donated the newly constructed Afrike-Okpeche Central Roundabout for public use. The commissioning ceremony, held on 13th May 2025, was attended by a number of dignitaries, including the Chairman of Bekwarra Local Government Area, Hon. Theresa A. Ushie, and the State Chairman of the National Youth Council, Comr. Emma Olayi, who officially unveiled the roundabout.
Hon. Ushie praised the roundabout as a key improvement to local infrastructure and emphasized the importance of the community taking ownership of such public projects. “This roundabout represents progress and development. I urge the youth of Afrike to protect it and all public infrastructure in your area,” she said.
Also present at the event was Comrade Emmanuel Olayi, Chairman of the Cross River State Youth Council, who expressed his gratitude to Stephen Endurance for his contribution. "Under my leadership as State Youth Chairman, I hope to cultivate a community where development and value re-orientation are prioritized," he said. He commended Endurance for thinking of the community and encouraged the youth to follow his example of selfless service.
