GROUP WRITES SEN. OWAN ENOH TO ACCOUNT FOR MONIES RECEIVED AS CONSTITUENCY ALLOWANCE

A group under the aegis of Central Youths Network has demanded a summary of how funds meant for constituency projects were spent during Senator John Owan Enoh's era as Senator Representing Central Senatorial District and House of Representatives Member Representing Etung/Obubra Federal Constituency (respectively) in the National Assembly. In a letter addressed to the immediate past senator representing Central Senatorial District, the group threatened to petition the Senator to the EFCC/ICPC if details of his constituency projects are not made public.

The letter reads:

Sen John Owan Enoh

Immediate Past Senator

Central Senatorial District

Cross River State.

Distinguished Senator,

Your Political Profligacy:A Call For Accountability

It is on record that you have been in public office(elective) for over 20 years, having spent 16 years in the House of Representatives and 4 years in Senate excluding your years as House of Assembly member.

In each of these years you received constituency allowance meant for the execution of projects in our federal constituency(Etung-Obubra)  and central senatorial district in Cross River State.

By rough estimates these funds runs into billions of Naira. We have looked around our federal constituency and senatorial district and we are at loss as to what/which community/constituency project has been executed in our senatorial district and or federal constituency.

This is ofcourse  a clear, succinct  and unchallengeable indication that funds meant for the welfare and development of our district/constituency were wantonly, selfishly and wholesomely diverted for your personal aggrandizement.

This situation is totally unacceptable to us considering the hardship faced by our constituents due to your failure to execute the projects of which funds were released for and that you are part of a regime that decries corruption and expouses accountability.

In view of the foregoing therefore, we the undersigned members of the Cross River Central Youth Network,  a coalition of community based youth  leaders of each Local Government Area, LGA in the central and representatives of our LGAs youth coalition hereby demand that within 14 days you should convene a senatorial/constituency meeting in order for you to meticulously, satisfactorily and comprehensively give an account of the billions of Naira that were allocated to you for our constituency projects.

We further demand that in line with the relevant provision of the Freedom of Information Act that you furnish us with copies of the documents of funds received and outlet/evidence of expenditures.

Please take note that failure to do this we will be constraint, as you leave us with no choice than to petition the EFCC,  ICPC, the Inspector General of Police and in addition to whatever judicial steps our lawyers will deem appropriate.

As the Good Book says there is a time for everything. THIS IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO GIVE ACCOUNT OR FACE THE REQUISITE JUDICIAL PROCESSES.
