Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State, Sen. John Owan Enoh has come under attack over suspicion of killing his supporters for rituals to become Governor.
Since the controversial APC primaries that produced him, about four senior members of the party including the state Chairman, Dr. Mathew Achigbe and his wife have died mysteriously in ghastly motor accidents.
His camp fears an imminent decline following the deaths of Patrick Ashiple (Parabola), APC House of Assembly candidate, Chief Godwin Takus, another of Owan-Enoh's supporter who died mysteriously in Boki and now, Dr. Achigbe.
The recent one which is the APC Chairman who died with his wife and others on Saturday along Afikpo road in Ebonyi state has raised eyebrows as many of his supporters are secretly planning to dump him for fear of being the next victims.
A supporter who spoke in confidence said that "We heard he want to sacrifice seven (7) heads to be Governor. Takus, Parabola, the other Boki guy, Achigbe and his wife have died mysteriously in the past two months.
"I'm one of his staunch supporters but the recent happenings has caused palpable fear in our camp. You know he said he can't contest election he is not sure of winning. With this development, we are wondering how he is so sure of winning. If it's not God that's speaking to him then something somewhere is giving him the assurances and that will definitely come with some sacrifices".
Owan-Enoh has constantly been accused of playing ritual politics as his supporters have always died mysteriously during elections.
Another top APC member from Etung said that "Owan has always been accused of sacrificing his supporters for his insatiable and desperate quest for power.
Many right thinking Cross Riverians like me see his ambition of becoming governor of the State as repugnant to natural justice. Privately, people have asked the Agborkim-born politician, who has held various political positions since 1997 to date to give way but he has refused because he says he was told he will be Governor in 2019. I see more mysterious deaths before 2019 because Owan is very desperate and will do everything to remain in power".
