In a statement signed by the Director General of the Agency, Mr. Kingsley Ikpeme, the board noted that this recognition is as a result of the Governor's industrial drive to decouple Cross River State from Federal dependence.
The statement reads as follow:
"The management of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority felicitates with the Digital Governor of Cross River State, Sen. (Prof) Ben Ayade on his recent induction as a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Civil Engineers, this induction as is well deserved, which is as a result of your hard work, dedication and commitment to duties, which has endeared you to this great professional body.
Your efforts aim at positively transforming the state as second to none, drive towards industrializing the state thus decoupling it from federal allocation, prompt payment of workers salaries, establishment of the garment factory, banana factory, tooth pick factory, dredging of the deep seaport, ongoing work at the spaghetti flyover at Odukpani, Cocoa processing factory, maintenance of peace, law and order in the state, ongoing maintenance and filling of pot holes in our roads, etc.
In the same vein, we commend your effort aimed at decongesting Calabar Municipality through the creation of Greater Calabar Capital City Development Agency, a baby agency of your administration with the mandate of preparation and implementation of a master plan for the development of new cities across the seven local governments in the Southern Senatorial District of the State. Provision of municipal services within the city, regulation of sanitation, management of transport and provision of security within the city.
You have show positive disposition to the leadership of the youth in the state by appointment of youths in your cabinet, which previous administrations in the state failed short of.
As morally right to reciprocate this kind gesture, I urge all youths and Cross Riverians in general to support the Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade led administration, reelect the Governor come 2019 to enable him complete his mandatory 8 years term as done to other senatorial districts and to complete his people oriented projects for the greater good of the state."
Comrade Kingsley Ikpeme poised that the Greater Calabar Capital City Development Authority to determined to deliver in its mandate by provision of a regulatory framework for development of new cities and check urban sprawling in the state and illegalities on the part of implementers.
