Senator John Owan-Enoh has declared that with or without votes from the Efik speaking people of Cross River State, he will become the state Governor in 2019.
Owan-Enoh who is presently representing the Cross River Central in the senate, is said to have made the shocking statement at a meeting with his campaign team in Abuja.
He was reportedly responding to a view expressed by one of his promoters, on how he thinks that an Owan-Enoh candidature would be a hard sell to the people of Cross River South.
The Southern Cross River is expected to reoccupy the governor’s office which was zoned to the north by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP by 2023.
The Senator was said to have dismissed the fears, declaring that he, an Ejagham man, will become governor whether the Efiks like it or not.
“I am an Ejagham man. I don’t need the vote of Efik people who are loud mouthed, few in population with mediocre but overhyped culture. They lack the numbers to determine who becomes governor of Cross River State. Even in Calabar I will win because the whole of Calabar Municipality is Ejagham. They will vote for me as one of their own.
" So, any Efik person who does not want to vote for me,Owan can keep his or her vote. I will win without them”, Owan-Enoh was reported to have said.
It would be recalled that Donald Duke an Efik Son was Governor of Cross River bewteen 1999-2007,while Senator Liyel Imoke, who is from the Central like Owan-Enoh, did 8 years in office between 2007-2015 as governor before handing over to the incumbent, Senator Ben Ayade, a northerner.
Expectedly, the south is hoping to have one of its own occupying the governor’s office in 2023 with the conclusion of eight years from Northern Cross River.
Findings revealed that because of the expectation, the South detests an Owan-Enoh candidacy as any support for him will mean keeping the south away from the governor’s office for another 8 years instead of four, which the present arrangement guarantees

I bet you over your death body you will never rule this State(Cross River)come 2019,since you don't have respect for Efik speaking, come rule let see.
ReplyDeleteReally? I doubt he said this. But even so, it's not the turn of the central.
ReplyDeleteLet's see how it goes. Really interesting times ahead!!
I have been one person that subscribed for good governance in my state, not minding where the governor comes from. But with your insult on Efik, it makes me remember Lyell Imoke and what he did to the Efik....... Let's watch and see how the music 🎶 plays.
ReplyDeleteI find this reaction hard to believe in these days of politics and fake media reportings. Not even a councillorship aspirant in this 21st century will make such comment.
ReplyDeleteOwan Eno I don't believe you said this, but if you did we wish you all the best in your political Carrier.
ReplyDeleteSad! An unintelligent remark!
ReplyDeleteSenator Owan, i find it funny if make sure comment forgetting the fact that your office situates in Calabar, if you did better withdraw it immediately, cos you will have the ancestors to deal with, be warned.
ReplyDeleteOwan- Enoh must refute this, or he'll be slighted by his ejagham people as arrogance the Efiks.
ReplyDeleteHis speech at the declaration does not include this.
Its a lie
DeleteAyade might not be a saleable candidate, in the history of CRS politics more development always come in 2nd tenor. So it's not even turn for the central, owan enoh should just relax in his house of Senate and represent his people well. If not he will invest in vain. He well be surprised that he loose in his ward.
ReplyDeleteOwan Enoh is too matured and politically exposed to make this kind of statement. His detractors are at work. Please stop feeding us with inciting statements/ information. I am a full Efik man.
